Description
This is a specialty thermocouple to measure the temperature of the tip of a solder iron. Normal Type K thermocouples do not wet out with solder, they reject it and therefore do not make good contact with the tip of a solder iron. The tip of this probe is wrapped with ultra thin copper wire and then coated in lead free solder. The length of the Teflon PFA insulated wire is 2 ft, the diameter is AWG30 or 0.25 mm

This probe can be used with Type K thermometers with a mini connector that has two flat blades. Some multimeters also have sots for this type of connectors. Some multimeter ike the EEV bbog or the Fluke meters only have round banana plug connectors, in that case you need this adapter:
