This is a specialty K-type thermocouple wire probe made from AWG#24 stranded wire, which has a high temperature Kapton plastic insulation, good up to 752 degree Fahrenheit °F or 400 degree Celsius °C. The wire is first welded to form a bead, then the bead is welded to a USS 3/8" washer, zinc plated, with a clearance of about .675 to the center.
